Taking a break from denying Tottenham's interest in every player in the world, Harry Redknapp made a good point yesterday about clubs no longer wanting to sell unless the player hands in a transfer request, for fear of a PR backlash. What, said Redknapp, is wrong with saying £35m is an enormous amount of money for Andy Carroll, so we'll sell?
QUOTES OF THE DAY: Harry Redknapp's deadline day
Sunday: "We're not going to find somebody tomorrow. Who is going to find someone good enough to play in the Premier League before Monday night?"
Monday morning: "I don't think you'll be seeing a lot of action today. It'll all be happening elsewhere."
Monday afternoon: Tells reporters he is off home. Rejects a list of names thrown at him by a Sky Sports News man, saying: "If there was anyone I'd tell you."
Monday evening: Say Phil Neville was their sole deadline day target: "We have made an offer to Everton. If David (Moyes) does not want to sell him that's fine. But that is the only one that I can see happening."
Monday night: Reveals Spurs narrowly failed with an 11th hour bid for Charlie Adam: "Daniel (Levy) rang me late on and asked if I like Charlie Adam. I said 'yes, he's a fantastic footballer'. He said do you want him, I said 'can we get him?'. We pushed on and tried to do it, Daniel was confident he could get it through. It went to the wire but we missed out by minutes."
The move apparently fell through because Blackpool could not get signatures from two key shareholders. While the suits in question were presumably in no great hurry to ink up their fountain pens, it could all have been so different had Spurs started negotiations a little earlier - say, 20 minutes, or the time it takes to give four disingenuous interviews.

Life is just blah blah blah. We hope for blah, and sometimes you find it, but mostly it's just blah. Waiting for blah, hoping you're right about the blahs you made. And just when you think you've got the whole blah damn thing figured out and we're surrounded by the ones we blah..
Death shows up... and blah blah blah
